Just when you thought you may have had enough for one week it seems there is a light at the end of the tunnel. A little something has just hit the online dating world to cheer singles up who have had their hearts broken by the referendum result. Introducing Remainder, an app which surfaced this week, setting out to connect singles that were hoping to stay in the EU so they 'don't have to go through this tough time alone'. Reading about it made me stop in my tracks today that is for sure. Well I suppose in a country divided in democracy perhaps opposites may not attract after afterall.
Spotting a gap in the market (and as something that started out as a joke) the Remainder website states "What better way to recover than hooking up with someone who shares your sense of existential dread?" Connecting singles in cynicism certainly made me laugh.
If you were in the 48% and are finding the result ridiculously tough to deal with, do not fear there are plenty of others out there looking to meet someone just like you to either socialise or potentially partner with. Thousands of singles are already signed up looking for love, perhaps the entrepreneurial duo who had this bright spark of an idea are on to a winner in a time where they feel the UK is at a huge loss after a 'dismal day in the UK'. Maybe there will be a few weddings on the cards and perhaps that's the best thing to come out of the Brexit result for Britain; who knows and only time will tell.
Targeting grief-stricken singles across the UK, the Remainder app will be available for those remainers in cities such as London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Brighton. Singles will soon be able to start swiping right with others who placed a cross in the remain box on referendum day. A strike of genius from the Remainder team who have placed this on their website: ‘Want to date or meet Brits, but worried they voted Leave? Meet someone who welcomes foreigners to Britain". Obviously this is one online dating platform that is exclusively for the use of the inclusive.
If you are finding online dating too much of a risk as it is then maybe Remainder is the answer for the political mind who is looking to date a like-minded 'in' voter. Remainder said "We don't have heaps of cash to throw at it, so we're just dependent on the goodwill of friends, friends of friends, and fellow Remainers".
